Capital College's Phlebotomy Program

The Phlebotomy program is a 10-20 week, 80-hour certificate program. The program is designed to prepare students to perform percutaneous venipunctures competently and safely, to obtain laboratory specimens, and to function as a vital member of the clinical laboratory team. The program includes teaching on medical terminology, collection procedures, and hands-on laboratory practice. The first part of the program is a 10-week, 40-hour classroom-based instruction. The second part is a 40-hour externship.

Students who successfully graduate and complete a minimum number of unaided blood draws will be eligible to sit for major national certification exams, including American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), and others. The core program is taught by our faculty. Hands-on training gives students real world experience in the most relevant health and medical field settings.
