The Capital College Phlebotomy Program gives students the ability to earn a phlebotomy certificate in just 10 weeks. Students learn to perform venipunctures, obtain laboratory specimens, and effectively function as an essential member of a clinical laboratory team with first-hand practice.

Capital College's Phlebotomy Program
The Phlebotomy program is a 10 week, 40 hour certificate program. The program is designed to prepare students to perform percutaneous venipunctures competently and safely, to obtain laboratory specimens, and to function as a vital member of the clinical laboratory team. The program includes teaching on medical terminology, collection procedures, and hands-on laboratory practice. Students who successfully graduate and complete a minimum number of unaided blood draws will be eligible to sit for major national certification exams, including American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), and others. The core program is taught by licensed faculty. Hands-on training gives students real world experience in the most relevant health and medical field settings. Capital College students have had a 100% success rate when it comes to taking national licensure exams.
Program Prerequisites
Applicants must:

Be at least 18 years upon entry,

Demonstrate basic English reading and writing skills, and

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Academic Calendar and Program Start Dates
Capital College operates on a non-traditional academic term. The program has rolling start dates such that classes begin on either the first or third Saturday of each month when a minimum number of enrolled students has been met
